Biochemistry, which means “living chemistry”, examines the chemical substances in the structure of all living things and the chemical processes that occur.
Clinical biochemistry is a branch of science that researches biochemical mechanisms in the body at the molecular level and helps physicians in determining the causes of the disease, diagnosis, and treatment processes.
The clinical laboratory is also very important in preventive medicine. Healthy individuals can have various tests, and according to the results of these tests, they can take measures to prevent possible diseases.
We help our patients by analyzing the compositions of body fluids, secretions, and tissues in normal and pathological states by using the devices in our laboratory.
Analyzes we make in our biochemistry laboratory
Analyzes made in the biochemistry laboratory have much importance in terms of diagnosis and treatment planning. Thanks to these analyzes, values that are not in the normal range are found, and thus, it is observed whether the treatment is working as well as what the patient’s symptoms indicate.
Hormone tests show the concentration of certain hormones in the bloodstream. A low or high specific hormone level may indicate a disease. High or low levels may not indicate disease, and similarly, a normal test does not always rule out an abnormality. Thereby, a multidisciplinary approach is always better.
Metabolism analysis uses blood or saliva samples and body data (e.g. weight, physical activity, eating habits) to investigate how metabolism works. The results show which metabolic type you belong to. There are 3 types of metabolism; fat, carbohydrate, and mixed. A diet adapted to the metabolic type can improve your fat burning and overall health.
RIA (radioimmunoassay) is an immunological test that uses radioactively labeled molecules in the step-by-step immune complex formation. Thanks to this analysis, which tests antibody production, the substances that the patient is allergic to are revealed.
Urinalysis involves examining the appearance, concentration, and content of urine. Abnormal urinalysis results may indicate a disease. A urinalysis is used to detect and manage a wide variety of disorders such as urinary tract infections, kidney disease, and diabetes.
Complete blood count
A routine complete blood count test checks the levels of 10 different components of each major cell in your blood: white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Important components measured by this test include red blood cell count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit.
Based on your results, your doctor will order follow-up tests to confirm abnormal levels and a possible diagnosis.
Devices in our biochemistry laboratory
In the biochemistry laboratory of our hospital, modern devices are used for hormone, metabolism, RIA, urine, and whole blood analyses, thus ensuring the accuracy of the results.
