Most abdominal operations, including intestinal tumor removal and hernia repair, can now be performed laparoscopically.
Laparoscopy is often used to identify and diagnose the source of pelvic or abdominal pain. Generally, it can be used when non-invasive methods do not help the diagnosis. Laparoscopic surgery is preferred when ultrasound, CT, and MRI fail to diagnose abdominal problems, and the doctor may also perform an intervention to treat the disease immediately after diagnosis.
Organs whose problems can be diagnosed and treated with laparoscopy;
small intestine and large intestine (colon)
pelvis or reproductive organs
By observing these areas with a laparoscope, your doctor can detect these:
abdominal mass or tumor
fluid in the abdominal cavity
the effectiveness of current treatments
