The Hocoma Lokomat robotic walking device used in our hospital is a robotic walking rehabilitation system used for the recovery and development of walking ability in cases such as traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes, loss of walking ability due to neurological or orthopedic reasons. The system aims to regain the normal walking pattern by taking most of the body weight of our patients, allows their joints to move freely.
After the patient to be treated is first taken into the device by means of a carrier garment and his/her body weight is transferred to the device, robotic walking devices are attached to the legs of the patient. With the help of sensors by robotic walkers, it is aimed to reveal and strengthen the active movement of the patient, who is started to walk, by transferring a partial load on the treadmill to form a normal walking pattern. Meanwhile, the patient can follow his/her walk from the mirror in front of him/her or virtual reality screen. In order to apply a more effective physical therapy method, the walking model of our patients is transferred to the computers and the problem is analyzed at what stage. Besides, robotic rehabilitation methods motivate the patient.
