Varian TruBeam, a radiotherapy treatment method based on the “targeted irradiation” principle, uses many technical innovations with completely restructured control features to dynamically synchronize the treatment, such as robotic imaging, automatic patient positioning and motion management. The most important advantage of the Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy device, which is generally used successfully in the treatment of tumors in hard-to-reach areas, is that it delivers the highest degree of beam to our patients in a short time and significantly reduces the number of sessions, duration and sessions that our patients will receive.
During the procedure with the Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy device, which is completely computer-controlled, our patients are placed on the moving table of the device, the device constantly rotates around the patient and synchronizes the dose and imaging process. Standard radiotherapy processes are valid and with the advantage of shortening the treatment period up to five times, the compliance of our patients with the treatment also increases. During the treatment process, thanks to the coordination and speed of imaging methods, the normal tissue preservation rate is increased and the side effects are reduced, and the treatment effectiveness on the tumor is increased by adjusting the density. Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy device, which offers a radiosurgery feature called focal radiotherapy, performs treatment for the destruction of tumors smaller than three centimeters in our patients. Radiosurgery recommends treatment with Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy device as an alternative to surgical methods in some tumors. With 3D-CRT (conformal radiotherapy), IMRT (intensity modulated radiotherapy), VMAT (volumetric intensity modulated radiotherapy), IGRT (image guided radiotherapy), SRS (stereotactic radiotherapy), SBRT (stereotactic body radiotherapy) and whole-half body photon irradiations can work harmoniously. With the FFF (Flattening Filter Free) mode of the device, the dose rate can be increased up to 2400 MU/minute.This provides more comfort to the patient by shortening the treatment times. Thus, a standard IMRT treatment that normally takes 10-15 minutes can be completed in less than two minutes, and a complex radiosurgery application that lasts from 40 minutes to two hours can be completed in 5 to 20 minutes.
This sharp and precise imaging of the TrueBeam system with its sensitivity of less than one millimeter is provided by the modern architecture of the system, which creates a new level of synchronization between patient positioning, motion management, beam shaping and dose delivery technologies, and performs accuracy checks every ten milliseconds throughout the treatment. More than 100,000 data points are continuously monitored while treatment is ongoing, ensuring the system maintains a “correct isocenter” or focal point for treatment.
