The stress test, which is one of the important tools used for the diagnosis and follow-up of cardiovascular diseases and performed by our specialist physicians and trained technicians, reveals how the heart and blood vessels respond to physical exertion. In our hospital, Cardiac TM55 treadmill device is used for the stress test. The use of the device is very practical. Pulse and blood pressure are measured with a treadmill with the help of electrodes attached to the chest. Our patients who come to our hospital for the stress test are carried out on the Cardiac TM55 treadmill device designed as a walking band.
At the start of the test, the treadmill moves slowly and with little incline. Then, every three minutes, there is an increase in speed and incline according to the exercise protocol applied. While it is sufficient to walk at a certain pace at the beginning, the patient should run in advanced stages. Subsequently, the patient is walked on the walking belt, starting slowly and increasing in speed and incline every 3 minutes. Meanwhile, ECG monitoring and recordings and blood pressure measurements are made at regular intervals. The duration of exercise in the effort test varies according to the age and effort capacity of the person. The average time is usually between 8-10 minutes. Heart rhythm is monitored throughout the test and blood pressure is measured every 3 minutes.
It is very important that our patients are examined by our cardiology specialists and especially their resting ECGs are evaluated before the exercise test is performed. The test may not be interpreted correctly because there are some ECG changes. These patients are directed to the appropriate tests for them. In addition, nothing should be eaten for at least two hours before the exercise test. During this period, smoking should not be allowed, and our physicians should be asked whether or not to use regularly used drugs. Participants should definitely wear comfortable clothes, and on the day of the test, our patients should bring sports shoes with them.

Efor testi yapılmadan önce hastalarımızın kardiyoloji uzmanlarımız tarafından muayenesi ve özellikle istirahat EKG’lerinin değerlendirilmesi çok önemlidir. Bazı EKG değişikliği olan hastalarımızda test doğru yorumlanamaz. Bu hastalarımız kendileri için uygun tetkiklere yönlendirilir. Diğer yandan efor testi öncesi en az iki saat öncesinden itibaren hiçbir şey yenilmemelidir. Bu süre içerisinde sigara içilmemeli, sürekli kullanılan ilaçların kullanılıp kullanılmayacağı doktorlarımıza sorulmalıdır. Teste mutlaka rahat kıyafetler ile katılım sağlanmalı, test günü hastalarımızın yanlarında spor ayakkabı getirmeleri gerekmektedir.
